70% U.S. Merino / 30% U.S. Corriedale Fingering Weight 200 yards [183 meters] / 1.76 oz [50 g] 26 sts / 40 rows = 4” on US 3 [3.25 mm] needles Like its big sibling, Forge, Weld is made from a heathered blend of 70% U.S. Merino (sourced in Colorado and New Mexico), and 30% U.S. Corriedale (sourced in New York) wool. Weld is a well-balanced three-ply yarn, with a slightly more energetic twist for strength and durability. It has a beautiful balance of stitch definition, bounce, and wooly, cohesive bloom that produces both beautiful stockinette fabrics and delicate lace, texture, and brioche, and is perfect for stranded colorwork. Weld blooms beautifully and easily knits up on larger needles; we like it on anywhere from a US 3 to a US 6 (3.25 to 4.00 mm), depending on the application.

ER70S-6 contains high levels of manganese and silicon for stronger deoxidizing power where stringent cleaning procedures are not possible. This wire has been designed to provide X-ray quality porosity-free welds and the highest tensile strength (as welded) of the plain carbon steel wires. The high silicon content increases the fluidity of the weld pool, creating a smoother bead appearance and resulting in minimal post-weld grinding.
