Start with a small amount of balm (a little goes a long way), and apply it by hand on the leather, massaging it in circular movements. If you prefer, you can also apply it with a rag. When the leather starts to absorb the balm, lighter shades of leather goods may naturally darken some, but when they are dry they will return to their original shade.
