This is a great antique 'lingerie' or baby clothing washboard - that is smaller than a regular sized washboard. It would be a terrific addition to your 'country' laundry room! It was manufactured by DURO and bears its company slogan on the front side: Brighten Wash Day with DURO - the guaranteed galvanized tub. It has a rustic wood frame and galvanized metal for the washboard's scrubbing grate. The intent was to use this as a lingerie - or small clothing items - washboard. Fabulous mortise and tenon joints (see close up photo). This size washboard is sometime referred to as a 'child sized' and measures 16 inches long X 7-inches wide X 1.5-inch deep. Considering its age, Its condition is good. Some scrapes and marks on the wood and the galvanized metal has some oxidization - adding to its antique appearance. No cracks, chips or signs of repair. It is a delightful piece that will add to the charm of your farmhouse decor - in the laundry room or as a display piece elsewhere. Its small size gives you many display options! Or, use it as an instrument in that bluegrass band you've always wanted to play in! Please closely examine the photographs.
