DescriptionThese artists’ handmade papers are made from the inner bark or bast fibre of Lokta or from Edgeworthia Papyrefera.Lokta is darker toned and has a harder surface.Mitsumata is lighter, whiter and softer.Tsasho is made from inner bark of De-Nar, a variety of Lokta, and is the darkest and hardest of the fibers.All are native plants of the Himalayan foothills found above 3000 metres. They are sustainable and renewable resources. Plants are cropped above ground level and can be reharvested after 3-4 years. The papers are made using the Japanese nagashizuki dipping and layering method of papermaking.
