Morning raves are a big trend right now. Yes, raves! Just scroll through Instagram and you might notice a friend is up and at it at 7 A.M., but not to hit the gym—to dance, instead. That's how I found out about them. My friend Caitlin McCarthy, an interior designer in Los Angeles, woke up early one morning to join hundreds of Angelenos for Daybreaker—a sober morning dance party—and I just happened to see her post while sipping my first cup of coffee. Morning raves are exactly what you think they are. They're held in large, dark venues where a DJ spins loud house music or EDM, while people dance, sway, and jump around. But instead of all-night ragers, they start at sunrise and go for about an hour or two. "I think they are fantastic and a great way to get morning exercise in without feeling like you're working out," says McCarthy.
