We've created a beginners armature kit which is safe for children to use. Follow our simple step by step instructions to create a basic skeleton for your models, sculptures and puppets. Then apply the Jovi clay to bring the character to life. We want to encourage more children and adults to animate at home using tablets and smart phones. It's super easy and there are free apps available to download. Search 'stopmotion' in the app/android/prime store to get started. CONTENTS (dependent on what we have in stock) A make an armature how 2 guide: Follow the simple step by step instructions to make a skeleton for your character. A get started with animation how 2 guide: Full of tips, tricks and advice on how to do stopmotion animation at home. Jovi clay or Newplast Clay: A soft clay that's easy to use and doesn't dry out. Silk Clay: An air dry clay that's perfect for covering an armature with. Masking tape: A must have for any animator. 3m Aluminium wire: A soft wire that works well when animating. Pliers: Use to cut and shape the wire. 1 set of Awesome Emoji stickers: Use to practice animating face replacement. A wooden peg doll: Glue the body parts together and create a wooden armature. Cover with Jovi clay and silk clay. Blue tac: Use to secure your characters to the table while animating 1 wooden head with painted face: Make a small character using left over wire. ***As we pack the kits when we get an order, some kits may contain different items to what is shown in the photos. The value of the contents will always be the same.*** Use the Awesome Emoji face stickers to experiment with a stopmotion animation technique called 'face replacement'. It's super easy to do and there are instructions on the 'How 2' card. Usually when making an armature you need to use something like Milliput to attach all the joints together. It is a strong bonding materiel that is toxic if ingested. We've swapped out this harmful adhesive for kid safe Silk Clay. It's a great materiel to fix the wire together. It is easy to apply and dries to make a secure foam like bond. This kit is great for encouraging children to work independently but adult supervision will be required if you choose to twist the wire with a drill (There is a hand twist option). It also includes a set of pliers to cut the wire so watch those little fingers! Ideal for children aged 12+ but with supervision younger children will have fun using it as well. Not suitable for children aged 3 or below as there are small parts. We've been teaching film and animation for the past 19 years! We run workshops all across the UK so you're in safe hands.
