Finishing presses are used to secure a book or text block while you work on the spine, either for gluing, book repair, or for various finishing processes. This high quality press measures 5 1/2" high x 20" length, with 14" of space between the metal clamps and 3" between the open jaws. It can easily be raised to accommodate larger books by using any type of block to lift the base. (See images.) The press is made of solid red oak milled to a sturdy 1 3/4" thickness at the base and tapered at the top to 35 degree beveled edges. The high quality hardware includes 8” 3/4-10 threaded rods, 3/4” nuts and washers, and 4 1/2” cast metal handles. Locally hand crafted and stained with Natural Danish Oil. This finishing press, custom made for Hollander's, ships fully assembled and comes with general maintenance instructions.
