Paper blending stumps assist with building smooth gradations of color and value with a variety of drawing media including pencil, colored pencil, pastel, and charcoal. Blending stumps rub across these soft, powdery materials to combine colors and smudge away harsh edges and undesired directional lines into a soft, smooth consistent layer. Blending stumps also offer the ability to draw with the lifted colors to form extremely light, soft marks. The sturdy stump is sharpened to a point at both ends for more continuous usage and color changes. Simply reshape dirty ends with a normal sharpener or sanding paper to guarantee further clean blending. The results achieved with blending stumps can be exquisite.
