The overcast stitches created by this item can duplicate the stitches found on a serger without the need to trim your fabric.

Regarding its design, this Overcast Foot has a larger toe to guide the fabric for a seamless sewing. It also has a small pin in the center to keep the fabric edges from curling while sewing to avoid any hassle to the user. It also makes the thread locked around the edge of the fabric and aligned with the edge to prevent fabric from budging. This Overcast Foot can be used to finish the edge of your fabric, which compared to the zig-zag stitch, can definitely produce a much neater finish. The overcasting foot has an edge guide, so you run the edge of your fabric along the guide as you sew to avoid sewing mistakes in your fabric.

If you don't have a serger and just use a regular sewing machine, this is one of the best options for sewing knit fabrics and getting a narrow finished seam similar to stitches produced by serger on a ready-to-wear garment.

How-To-Use:

Place your fabric against the guide of the foot. Use an overcast-stitch or wide zig-zag stitch. If you use a wide zig-zag stitch, start slow to check that your needle doesn't hit the metal bar of the foot.

Other Interesting Tips & Uses:

Overcast stitches that move forward only are suited for light-medium weight fabrics. Overcast stitches that move back and forwards provide additional reinforcement and are better suited for medium to heavy weight fabrics. These may even result in serged-edge looking stitches, all without the use of a serger! Tip: Use nylon threads for fuller effects together with the Overcast Presser Foot.

Overcast/zig-zag stitches with the Overcast Foot along the edge of stretchy knit fabric create curved wavy edges!

Add fringe effortlessly to your projects! You can stitch with the Overcast Presser Foot using wooly nylon thread. When the stitching is done, use a pair of embroidery scissors to cut out the stitches to enjoy the effects of cute fringe.

Create pintucks! Simply fold the fabric and line it up against the guide and stitch away.
