The Aydinids were a Turkish dynasty who ruled over parts of western Anatolia from 1308 to 1426, with Ayasolik serving as their capital. The Aydinids emerged amid the power vacuum created by the disintegration of the Seljuk Sultanate of Rum, with Aydinoglu Mehmet Bey and his son Umur of Aydin overseeing a rising naval power of the Aegean.
