Description

If you’re striping zip cord, also known as bonded wire, make sure that you have the proper tools. We’ll be using two tools, a cable cutter and a compact wire striper. The first step is to measure the cord to the correct length making sure to add at least an extra inch or so. With our measurement checked, we’ll use the cable cutters to cleanly slice through zip cord in one clean motion. Our high leverage cable cutter is built to eliminate damage to the conductor and can handle up to 4/0 awg cable. With your zip cord cut, you’ll need to pull the conductors apart so they can be striped. After you determine the correct amount of insulation to strip, use the compact wire striper we use on our production lines to cut into the insulation. Pull the tool away from the wire to remove the cut piece. Now you just need to repeat the process on the remaining wires. This tool offers multiple crimp nests to handle a wide range of wire sizes. It also has a tapered plier nose that can be used to grip, twist, bend, or pull. Lastly, this tool offers a sharp cutting blade ideal for cutting solid and stranded wires as large as 10 gauge. With the proper tools, you can safely cut and strip zip cord while eliminating the risk of damage to the internal conductor. You’ll find the zip cord, and the tools you’ve seen here at .
